John Ross Brockhurst

John Ross Brockhurst, 62, of Geneva, Ohio passed away suddenly at Lake West Medical Center on Monday, August 3, 2026, from cardiac arrest due to an aneurysm.

He was born December 21, 1963, in Ashtabula, Ohio to parents, Joan Higerd and Bill Cummings and graduated from Harbor High School.

John worked for Cummings Plumbing, TNR, and most recently was working in the maintenance department of LMI (Lake Management Incorporated). In his free time, he enjoyed sailing, cooking, and was a lifelong Browns and Guardians fan. Above all else, John’s greatest gift was serving others most notably at the Geneva Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2243 where he served as President, Past President, Chaplin, and Trustee. He truly found joy in serving others and was always ready to lend a helping hand, touching countless lives through his kindness and making the world a better place.

He is survived by the love of his life, Karen Vossers; children, Kyle (Emily) Vossers and Cameron Weese; sister, Lisa Lester; nieces and nephews, Sherri Lester, Amanda Lester, Scotty Lester, and Zachary Wiita.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Joan Higerd and Bill Cummings and sister, Deborah Brockhurst.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 6-9pm on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Geneva Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2243, 120 Depot Street, Geneva, Ohio 44041.

In place of flowers, monetary donations are being accepted.

Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
