Obituary

John Ivan Henderson, 62, of Thompson, Ohio, passed away on September 3, 2024. Born on December 16, 1961, in Painesville, Ohio, to the late Ray and Bernadine (Cable) Henderson. John graduated from Ledgemont High School in 1980 and soon after moved to Texas, where he founded Delta Excavating. He later returned to his roots in Thompson, Ohio, continuing his work as an excavating and heavy equipment operator with various companies, including Clemson Excavating. He retired from the Local 18 Union in 2023 after more than 25 years as a Union member. Beyond his professional life, John had a profound passion for building and restoring classic cars. He also cherished the time spent feeding the fish in the pond he built on his property.
John is survived by his children, Caden (Lacey) Henderson of Jefferson, Ohio and Callahan (Savannah) Henderson of Claridon, Ohio; siblings Bonny Reed and Tom (Cindy) Henderson; his cherished granddaughters Maci and Gracie Henderson, whom he referred to as "His Girls"; niece and nephews, Holly (Chris) Longstreet, Johnny (Jessica) Pasquarelli. Michael (Kasey) Willm, Bobby Eubank, and David Eubank; great niece and nephews, Zachary Knight, Dominique King, Kyle Gleba, Tyler (Baylee) Pasquarelli, Alexandra Pasquarelli, Anthony Pasquarelli, Aubri Henderson and Emersyn Henderson, Cameron and Bennett Willm; and great-great nephews Jayden and Javari Crosby. John was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Rae Bosworth and Jackie Eubank; nephew, Ray Henderson; great-nephew, Joshua Henderson; and brother-in-law, Richard Reed. A private memorial service was held in John's honor for his immediate family, reflecting his modest and private nature. John's legacy of hard work, creativity in vehicle restoration, and love for his family will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
