John Elton Silvis, 72, of Fairport Harbor, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at his home in Fairport Harbor. He was born on October 6, 1952, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, to parents John H. Silvis and Anna M. Bruner (Peggy). John graduated from Madison Memorial High School in 1971 and went on to enlist in the United States Army. While in the Army he earned the rank of an E-3 and served from 1972-1974 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. John worked and retired from Ranpak Corporation in Concord, OH. He loved playing jokes on people, socializing, camping, fishing, and watching the Cleveland Indians. John is survived by his children, Janet (Danny) McFadden, Joshua (Michele) Silvis, Jeremy Silvis; grandchildren, Peyton (Denny) Wareh, Tyler Silvis, Gianna Keating, Payge Silvis; great-grandchild, Charli Wareh; siblings, Anna (Darryl) Lamb, Rose (Lenny) Lebaron, Polly (Randy) McTigue, Wanda Silvis, Richie Silvis, Debbie Silvis, Larry Judd; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. Silvis and Anna (Peggy) M. Bruner; stepmother, Rose Silvis; and brother, John Lewis. A celebration of his life will be held from 12pm-3pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Rich Lanes in Fairport Harbor, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Judes, any local Humane Societies, any Veteran support groups, or Wounded Warrior groups.
