John Stephen Simotics, Jr., 55, of Ashtabula, Ohio passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
He was born October 10, 1969, in Painesville, Ohio to Norma Jean Walker and John Stephen Simotics, Sr.
John attended Dorset Elementary School in Ohio and Edneyville High School in North Carolina. In Ohio, he was active in 4-H showing animals at the County Fair and in high school, he was a member of the wrestling team which was ranked 2nd in the State of North Carolina.
After high school, he worked as a cook in various restaurants and pizza parlors in North Carolina. When not working, John loved reading, was an avid fisherman working as First Mate on a fishing charter, was a rugged outdoorsman, an excellent cook, a huge fan of the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills and had an amazing "green thumb." He was baptized Methodist and was a very loving and kindhearted person with a witty and funny sense of humor and had a special love for animals.
John is survived by his son, Levi Simotics; his fiancé, Regina Cannata; siblings, Frank (Jennifer) Simotics, Jacqueline (Steven) Simotics; Carrie Simotics, Amy Simotics and Jenifer Weaver; nephews and nieces, Michael and Adam Patrick, Austin and Caitlin Simotics, Jeff and Jordan Golden, Isaiah and Gabriel Simotics and Destiny and Jasmine Simotics. He is also survived by many loving aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma Jean Walker and John Stephen Simotics, Sr.; grandparents, Norman and Geneva Walker and Frank and Elizaeth Simotics; niece, Shelby Jean Golden.
A private family service was held.
