Obituary

On Monday October 9th, 2023, John Nicholas Spratta, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 61 years old.

John was a graduate of Cheshire High School in 1981, where he was active on the Football team, one of his greatest past times. John would often remember back to his time on the team and spoke fondly of the friends he had made. During his time in Cheshire he also worked at Blackies Hot Dog Stand, which would become one of his most cherished places to visit and dine. Despite living out of state, John still purchased their prized hot pepper relish to enjoy at home.

John graduated from Quinnipiac College, where he attended from 1981 – 1986. He received a dual degree, B.S., Accounting; Computer Information Systems. His daughter Holly followed in his footsteps to become a Quinnipiac Alumnus which was special to him.

John was hard working and as a coworker has stated "gave 120% in everything he did" whether it was personal or professional. He was recognized as a "top 30 under 30" for his dedication and talent. He began his career right out of college at Wesleyan University in their academic technology department. From there he went onto Deloitte Touché and several years later to Hubble Incorporated. He then moved to Ohio and worked at another Hubbell location doing internal audit where he met his loving wife Dru. Later he advanced his career in CT and became Vice President of Casco Products where he worked for many years. Upon his leave from Casco he was able to return to work as a contractor for the company at their headquarters in Germany which was a once in the lifetime experience.

John traveled extensively on business which allowed him the opportunity to "see the world" which is what he considered one of his greatest accomplishments. He spoke about his travels in Germany, Africa, China, Puerto Rico, Japan, England, and many others. Of all of his travels, he spoke beautifully about a special place in Puerto Rico; Mosquito Bay. The bay is known for its mesmerizing and natural illumination of the waters at night.

John was the son of the late Raymond and Grace Campbell. He is survived by his devoted wife Drusilla Fry and his children, Josh Aitken, Kayla Schroeder, Holly Bergers, and Dillon Fry. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Lily Miner and Alexander Bergers. As well as his sister Sharon Mead, and late siblings Cynthia Boutout and Kathleen Spratta. As well as numerous friends and family both living and who have passed on, who he loved very much. John considered his wife's cooking "the best in the world" and that she was his "best friend" as well as loving companion. He truly loved each and every one of his family and friends deeply.

A remembrance of life will be held in Connecticut at Blackies Hot Dog Stand on Friday November 10th from 5pm to 7pm. Any of his friends and family are invited to attend and to remember his life the way he would've wanted with great food, music, and memories.

The address for the remembrance is 2200 Waterbury Rd, Cheshire, CT 06410
