Joseph A. Fontana

Joseph A. Fontana, 76, of Mentor, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Born on April 30, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, Joe was the son of Joseph and Mary Fontana. He graduated from Villa Angela–St. Joseph High School and went on to build a successful career as a business owner. Throughout his life, he owned and operated several businesses, including Mentor Hardware, Power and Sail Boatyard, and Mac Smith Golf Club Company.

On July 20, 1990, Joe married the love of his life, Deborah Fontana, in Lyndhurst, Ohio. Together they shared many happy years and built a loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend who cherished time spent with those he loved.

Joe enjoyed playing golf and pool and was known for his entrepreneurial spirit, warm personality, and dedication to his family. His Catholic faith remained an important part of his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deb Fontana; his daughters, Jessica Fontana and Sarah (Hunter) Seide; and his sister, Joan (Dan) Laux.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Fontana.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joe’s life on September 10 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Pastina Restaurant, 9354 Mentor Ave #1, Mentor, OH 44060. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on September 11 at Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Rd, Willoughby, OH 44094.
