Kathleen Rita (Olinick) Shimek, 73, of Jefferson, Ohio, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, October 10, 2025.

She was born in Mayfield Heights, OH to parents, Harry and Arlene Olinick, and was always sad about being an only child. Kathleen was very excited to have children and was a loving mother of three who she raised in Painesville, OH. She worked in Production at Packaging Corporation of America until she became pregnant with her third child and decided to quit her job to focus on being a full-time mother.

To pass the time, she enjoyed reading, dancing, and playing games like D&D and on her PC. But her real passions were in archeology, architecture, Arabian horses, and breeding and showing cats.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Shimek; son, Ryan Crouser; mother, Arlene Olinick; and her father, Harry Olinick. She is survived by her daughters, Rochelle (Jeremy) Grady, and Carolyn Shimek; grandsons, Vincent Shimek, and Jeremy Grady Jr.; and her closest friends, Carolyn Toth and Sue Collands.

What we will remember the most is the passion in her voice when she spoke about the things she loved and the sparkle in her eyes when she was truly happy.
