LaVerne Marie Strube, 94, longtime resident of Willowick, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, December 5, 2025, in Roaming Shores at the home of her daughter.
Born on May 24, 1931, in Novelty, Ohio, she was one of ten children born to the late William and Katherine Ross.
LaVerne was a very dedicated and devout Parishioner of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Willowick where she sang in the weekly choir, was a member of the Mourning Glories singing at funerals, was a Stephens Minister, volunteered at the Café Club, made sandwiches for the needy, sold countless raffle tickets and would do anything needed to help her beloved Parish. She also loved planting flowers in her yard and making food for her family, especially for family picnics.
She is survived by her children, Katherine Maznik and John (Teena) Strube; grandchildren, Mark (Nicolle), Kimberly (Steve), Mellisa (Richard), Jen (Ryan), Patrick, Lauren and Landon; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Megan, Katharine, Ella, Brandon, Taylor, Ross, Lilly, Layla and Liam; daughter-in-law, Nancy Strube. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, William and Katherine Ross; husband, John Strube; son, William Strube; daughter Lorrelle and her husband Richard; son-in-law, Gary Maznik; and 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, January 10, 2025, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 32114 Vine Street, Willowick, Ohio 44095. Burial will be held in the spring, with a date to be determined, at All Souls Catholic Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio.
