Obituary

Leonard Lamar Cooper "Coop" of Painesville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Burton Health Care Center in Burton, Ohio.
He was born August 31, 1954, in Painesville, Ohio to the late Leonard Cooper and Catherine (Alston) Davenport and graduated from Painesville Harvey High School. After high school, Coop served in the U.S. Navy and after his honorable discharge, he worked at several places, most recently, as a machinist at Grand Rock in Painesville. In his spare time, he enjoyed scratchers, fishing, and watching Cowboy movies,l and was a Cleveland Browns fan.
Coop is survived by his wife Mary Ann Spaller-Cooper; children, Malcolm Curry and Shalona (Cedric Chambers) King; step-children, Michelle (Joseph Colon) Spaller, JJ (Abby) Spaller, and Michael Spaller; grandchildren, Malcolm, Kendric, Cayden, Skylar, Kinsey, Dawson, and Jackson; siblings, Julius "Bobo" (Laura) Cooper, Christine (Jerry) Talley, Peggy Curry, Jason (Cheryl) Davenport, Constance (Tracy Spikes) Davenport. Also survived by many close nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Catherine (Alston) Cooper and son, Eshonji King.
A Celebration of Life will be announced soon. Private burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Thursday October 26th at 1:15 PM.
The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to Coop's cousin, Wayne Ferguson.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio, assisted the family with arrangements.
