With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lois Fay Truckey, 81, of Austinburg, Ohio, who passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at Select Specialty Hospital in Boardman.
Lois was born on December 29,1944, in West Virginia to the late Boyd and Eula Simpkins. She carried the values of kindness, faith, and family with her throughout her life.
On March 11, 1967, she married the love of her life, Tommy Truckey, in Ashtabula, Ohio. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family. Although Tommy preceded her in death, the love they shared remained a guiding light throughout her life.
More than any title she held, Lois was proudest to be a wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, aunt and sister. She devoted her life to raising her three children and creating a home filled with warmth, comfort, and unconditional love. Her family was always her greatest priority. She celebrated their successes, comforted them through life's challenges, and never missed an opportunity to let them know how deeply they were loved. Her greatest happiness came simply from being together.
A devoted Christian, Lois lived her faith through quiet acts of kindness, compassion, and generosity. She enjoyed crocheting, taking walks, listening to Elvis and was known as an exceptional cook whose meals brought family and friends together around the table. Her homemade lasagna was legendary and has yet to be duplicated . Whether sharing a meal, offering encouragement, or simply spending time with those she loved, she had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and cared for.
Lois is lovingly survived by her children, Boyd Truckey (Marne), and Rodney Truckey (Jennifer); her beloved grandchildren, Adrienne Archer (Howard), Amy Truckey, Carly Truckey, Kari Truckey, Jacob Truckey, and Josh Truckey, four great-grandchildren, and many bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren all of whom will carry her love and memory in their hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tommy Truckey; her cherished son, Tommy Truckey Jr.; her parents, Boyd and Eula Simpkins; her sisters, Rosa Jeffrey-Verdi, Helen Knox, and Brenda Workman; and her brothers, Robie Rose and Ernie Simpkins.
Those who knew Lois will remember her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the strength and grace with which she lived her life. The legacy she leaves is one of unconditional love—a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lois's life on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Public visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio 44041. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, concluding with a graveside service at Eagleville Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband and son.
Her greatest legacy was not found in what she owned, but in the family she loved so completely. Her love, faith, and gentle spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to call her wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
