Margaret Ann Brittain-Hickerson (“Peggy”)Margaret Ann Brittain-Hickerson, lovingly known as Peggy, passed away peacefully at herfamily home in Madison, Ohio, on May 28, 2026, at the age of 72 after a courageous battle withcancer.Born on June 22, 1953, in Madison, Ohio, Peggy was the daughter of Jacob and MargaretTurkenburg. A lifelong resident of the area, she graduated from Madison High School in 1971and built a life centered on service, compassion, and caring for others.Peggy was a dedicated businesswoman who advertised housecleaning services, but her workextended far beyond that. She was known for helping people with a wide variety of needs,including pet sitting, shopping, personal care, and countless extraordinary projects. Peggy tookthe time to truly know her clients, understand their circumstances, and provide support whereverit was needed. Her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help made a lasting impact on manylives throughout her community.On December 5, 2024, Peggy married William “Bill” Hickerson at North Star Church in Perry,Ohio. Together they shared a loving and faith-filled marriage.Peggy is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Hickerson; her son, Pete Sherer and his wife,Kris; her step-grandchildren, Natalia Betti and Liam Betti; her brother, Dirk Turkenburg and hiswife, Claire Jo; and her sister, Johanna Swallow. She also leaves behind many extended familymembers, friends, neighbors, and clients whose lives were enriched by her friendship and care.She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Margaret Turkenburg; her son, Christopher“Chris” Sherer; her brother, Peter Turkenburg; and her brother-in-law, Richard Swallow.The family extends a heartfelt thank you to their friends and family at Lifeline Church, NorthStar Church, and Traditions Hospice for their time, care, compassion, and support duringPeggy’s illness.A memorial celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at a later date, with the location and time tobe announced. Her final resting place will be at Arcola Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe page, “Peggy Hickerson,” has been established to assist thefamily with expenses.Peggy will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering faith, generous spirit, and thecountless ways she touched the lives of others. Her legacy of kindness and service will continueto live on in all who knew and loved her.
