Marilyn F. Vidmar, 88, of Wickliffe, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Brookdale Assisted Living.
She was born August 19, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Frank and Julia Zak and graduated from East High in 1954.
After raising her family she pursued a career in nursing, working in private practice, home nursing, and finishing her career at McGregor Home.
Marilyn was very proud of her Slovenian heritage. She was a member of AMLA No. 27, SNPJ Lodge 158, Slovenian Women's Union, and sang with Zarja for many years. She also enjoyed gardening, bocce, bowling, and traveling.
She is survived by her children, Lorraine (Dr. Richard) Gustaferro, Richard (Carmen) Frech, Joseph (Tracy) Frech, and Kirsten (Chuck) Williams; grandchildren, Joseph Frech, Megan Frech, and Katy Gustaferro (Ryan Wilson); great-grandchild, Dane Wilson; nieces, Linda (Bob) Gray, and Maxine (Greg) King; six great-nieces and nephews and eighteen great-great-nieces and nephews; longtime companion, the late Bill Slavkovsky and his family.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Vidmar; parents, Frank and Julia Zak; sister, Juliana Kobal; companion, Bill Slavkovsky.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 4-7pm at Lake Erie Cremation and Funereal Services, 29801 Lakeland Blvd, Wickliffe, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church, 37932 Euclid Avenue, Willoughby, Ohio. Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio.
