Marlene Elba Avery

Marlene Elba Avery, 89, of Euclid, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Chardon Healthcare Center.

Marlene was born on August 17, 1937, in Euclid, Ohio, to George and Eileen Morris. She was the beloved wife of the late Jesse Avery.

Marlene devoted more than 40 years to her career in bookkeeping. Outside of work, she enjoyed genealogy, reading, and spending time with the people she loved. She especially enjoyed word games and puzzles and treasured the simple pleasures of everyday life and was a Methodist in faith.

Marlene is survived by her grandchildren, Christine Chavez and her husband Leandro Chavez, and Belinda Avery; along with extended family and friends who will remember her fondly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Avery; her parents, George and Eileen Morris; her children, Leigh Avery and Charles Avery; and her brothers, Charles and Lee Morris.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Chardon Healthcare Center for the compassionate care they provided Marlene during the last two weeks.

A celebration of Marlene’s life will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 29801 Lakeland Blvd, Wickliffe, OH 44092.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lake Humane Society, 7564 Tyler Blvd E, Mentor, OH 44060.

Marlene will be remembered for her warm heart, her love for family, and the many quiet moments of joy she shared with those around her.
