Martin J. Shott, 85, of Jefferson, Ohio, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022 at his home in Eagleville after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.
He was born January 17, 1937 in Gates Mills, Ohio to the late Alan and Martha Shott and attended Rock Creek Elementary School and Rock Creek High School. On December 1, 1956 he married Dorothy Hoskins in Rock Creek and together they shared more than 65 years of love and memories.
Martin was a carpenter by trade, spending his last working years a foreman at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. In his early years, he enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with friends and family. In his later years, he became a Tea-Party patriot attending marches in Washington, D.C. in 2008 and 2009 with thousands of other like-minded Americans. In the last 20 years he enjoyed attending Baptist churches with his wife, Dorothy, in Ohio and Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Hoskins) Shott, of Eagleville; children, Nancy Cook, Martin Jr. (Sandra) Shott, Robert (Bob) Shott, Gary Shott, and Laurie (Dan) Shafer;10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alana Thrower of Colorado and Diana Coles of Crestline, California.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters, Charlotte and Nadine.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 23, 2022 in Eagleville Cemetery on Eagleville-Jefferson Road just south of the Route 45/Jefferson-Eagleville Road intersection, with burial immediately following the service.
In place of flowers, the family requests contributions to WGOJ Radio, 753 Mill Street, Conneaut, Ohio 44030.
