Michael C. Troha, age 81, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. Born in Gibson, Indiana, on April 13, 1944, Michael spent his life dedicated to family, community, and the simple joys that brought him happiness.
Michael proudly served the City of Cleveland throughout his entire career, embodying a strong work ethic and deep commitment to public service. Outside of work, he found joy in the companionship of his beloved pets, collecting collie memorabilia, fishing, playing cards, and savoring chocolate malts. He especially cherished his annual summer anniversary trips with his wife, Terry, and getaways to Michigan with his friends.
Michael and Terry celebrated 60 years of marriage this year – a testament to their enduring love and partnership. He is survived by their two children, Trina and Spc. Daniel (Chris); two granddaughters, Stephanie Armstrong (née Milos) and Alyssa; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Armstrong.
Michael was adopted and raised by Jack and Helen Troha (née Cooper), and was preceded in death by his adoptive brother, Thomas. He was born to Irene Corn in Gibson, Indiana, and spent his early years in foster care alongside several birth siblings before being placed with his adoptive family. Though separated, he remained proud of the life he built and the roots he came from. He stayed in contact with many of his birth siblings throughout his life, including Dexter (wife Jeannie), both deceased; Joel Kinney (wife Valerie); Patricia (husband Dudley); and Anne.
Michael will be remembered for his deep love of family, his outspoken nature, and his unwavering sense of self. He was never afraid to speak his mind, and those who knew him appreciated his honesty, humor, and loyalty. He was a cousin and friend to many, and his legacy lives on in the family (and cats) he loved fiercely and the life he built with intention and heart.
