Mildred “Millie” Boerger Ford, born in Marysville, Ohio, on Oct. 19, 1923, passed away on March 27, 2026. She was the daughter of Leo and Mary Meyer Boerger, both of whom predeceased her, as did her first husband, A. William Ford, her son, David and her daughter Cheryl Ann. She is survived by her Grandson, Mark Ford, of Fairfield, CT.
Mildred was a graduate of Marysville High School, Class of 1941, and also a graduate of The Ohio State University where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. While on campus she was employed by the Caspian Trading Company, Tehran, Iran. She earned her degree in Business Administration. In 1966, she earned her teaching certificate from Kent State University and taught in the Geneva, Ohio, Area City School System where she was active in American Field Service.
As a teacher chaperone with the American Institute for Foreign Study, she spent several summers in Europe with Geneva Ohio students attending classes at the University of Southampton, England; The University of Innsbruck, Austria, and Hebrew University in Israel.
Following retirement in 1984, she moved to Sanibel Island, Florida, where she served on the Board and was later honored with emeritus status on the Ding Darling National Wildlife Society. She also served on the Boards of the Sanibel–Captiva Audubon Society, the Sanibel Congregational UCC Church, and was a docent for the Sanibel–Captiva Conservation Foundation, and served as an elected commissioner on the board of the Sanibel Public Library.
Memorial Visitation for Mildred Boerger Ford will be held at the Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services on June 5th, 2026, from 11am-12:30pm, with a Funeral Service from 12:30pm-1:00pm. A Burial will follow (1:30pm) at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Geneva, Ohio.
