Nancy Anne Van Putten, 69, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Born June 12, 1956, in Dunkirk, New York, Nancy was the daughter of Stanley and Anna Balzer. She was a 1974 graduate of Conneaut High School and spent her life building strong connections within the Conneaut community she loved so dearly. On June 14, 1975, Nancy married James H. Jones in Conneaut, and later married James Van Putten, the two remained together until his passing.
Nancy dedicated many years to serving others through a variety of professional roles. She worked as Clerk of Courts for the City of Conneaut, served as Director of the Conneaut Chamber of Commerce, and was employed in several medical offices throughout her career. She was known for her warm personality, strong work ethic, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Nancy loved nature walks, volunteering at the Conneaut Hospital Thrift Store, and spending time with family and friends. Her kind heart, gentle spirit, and thoughtful acts of compassion touched many lives. She was a faithful member of Corpus Christi Parish in Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Van Putten; her parents, Stanley and Anna Balzer; and her brother, Kenneth Balzer.
Nancy is survived by her children, Julie (Charles) Peterson of Warren, OH, Brandon (Jennifer) Jones of North Kingsville, OH, and Kevin (Zoey) Jones of Chaozhou, Taiwan; her beloved grandchildren, Hanah Jones, Xander Jones, and Zephyr Jones; and her brothers, Allen (Bonnie) Balzer of Mesquite, Texas, and Larry (Barb) Balzer of Conneaut, OH.
Family and friends are invited to remember Nancy through random acts of kindness: do something nice for a stranger and make someone smile, just as Nancy so often did throughout her life.
A memorial service will be determined and announced by the family at a later date.
