Orville Lynn Wetherholt

Orville Lynn Wetherholt, 83, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026 following a tragic and unexpected accident. His sudden passing has left a tremendous hole in the hearts of his family and all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter and love that will be treasured by his family and friends.

Lynn was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. For nearly 29 years, he shared his life with his wife, Marty. Together, they built a life filled with hard work, laughter, family, and countless memories. They spent many years working side by side running Cedars Motel, where they welcomed and met countless people along the way.

Lynn was a proud man who worked hard, loved deeply and took great pride in his family. He was especially proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to share stories of their successes. Their accomplishments were a source of tremendous joy and pride for him.

He was also incredibly proud of his service to his country. Lynn proudly served in the United States Army, both on active duty and in the Army Reserve, carrying that experience and sense of pride with him throughout his life.

When he wasn't working, he enjoyed the simple things that brought him great happiness. He loved fishing, cutting wood, and spending time at the casino. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for telling stories—stories that could make everyone laugh and, occasionally, stories that were told more than once. Those stories, along with his jokes and his unmistakable personality, are among the things his family and friends will remember most.

Above all else, he loved his family. He cherished the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and the people who became part of his life. His presence, his humor, his stories, and even his stubbornness will be missed more than words can express.

Lynn’s passing was sudden, and the shock of losing him so unexpectedly is difficult to put into words. While his family wishes they had more time with him, they are grateful for the years they shared, the memories they made, and the love that will remain long after his passing. His life touched many people, and his legacy will live on through his family.

He was preceded in death by his Parents: Orville and Imogene Wetherholt and Sister: Lila Shewell.

Lynn is survived by his Wife: Martha Wetherholt; Children: David Wetherholt (Sheri)- Grandchildren: Peyton, Kaleah, and Kadin, Michael Wetherholt (Holly)- Grandchildren: Brandon and Jonathan, Douglas Wetherholt (Corinne)- Grandchildren: Morgan, Ty, Jonathan, Isabella and Seth and Great Grandchildren: Lincoln and Levi, Sandy Wetherholt Patrick (Kyle), Timothy Wetherholt (Melissa)- Grandchildren: Salissa, Madilyne, and Seiji, Greg Vandeweel (Christine)- Grandchildren: Ryan, Mitchell, Brooke, Connor, Tessa and Great Grandchildren- Caden and Leighton; Brother: David Wetherholt (Eunice).

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by his family and friends.

In keeping with Lynn’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. In the days ahead, Lynn’s family will gather for a private celebration of his life—a time to share stories, laughter, memories, and the love that made him so special to all of us.
