Obituary

Patrick J. McGroder, age 77, of Madison, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2026.

Born on March 17, 1949, Patrick was the son of Francis A. McGroder and Ulysses Pearl McGroder (née Akins). He graduated from Collinwood High School in 1967 and proudly served in the United States Army.

Patrick began his career with Conrail Railroad in Collinwood in the early 1970s, dedicating 44 years before retiring. Outside of work, he was a black belt who trained for many years at Tracy's Karate in Euclid. He enjoyed making knives, collecting firearms, and attending gun shows and flea markets.

Patrick is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Antoinette (Greskowiak); and his three children, Vanessa McGroder of Geneva, Danielle McGroder of Madison, and Nicholas McGroder (Kim Edwards) of Thompson.

Pat loved his grandkids; they were his pride and joy! He was always supportive of their decisions and was always there for them. Pat was a proud and devoted grandfather to Brittney (Tom Kordic), Tyler McGroder (Maria Gentry), Nicholas McGroder (Amanda Scarvelli), and Kylee Mramor. His greatest joy was his family, especially his great-grandchildren, Thomas and Joseph Kordic. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first great-granddaughter in June! One life ends so that another can be born.

Pat is also survived by his sister, Brenda Latham; his nephew, Stephen King (Charla); nieces Kim Hooper and Tara Mitchel (Phillip); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Ohio and Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James T. McGroder.

Services will be private.

"Be good, kid. Love you more."
