Patrick L. Podpadec, age 65, of Madison, passed away on November 30th surrounded by his family. Born in Willoughby on July 28th, 1955 to Margaret "Peggy" and Ralph Podpadec. Patrick grew up in Mentor and moved to Madison in the mid 70's. He married his wife Gerri (Whittaker) Podpadec on September 19th, 1992. Together they welcomed their son Liam in November 1999.
Patrick had an incredible way of bringing his artistic creativity to life. Whether he was hanging drywall or building a guitar his talent and passion for music and woodworking came shining through. The music in Patrick began early. His contribution to the music world extended far beyond his own singing and strumming talent. His passion for woodworking, attention to the smallest of detail and his beautiful imagination provided musicians far and wide the ability to continue sharing their music with the world. Through his businesses ``Liam Guitars" and "Smoking Hot Guitars" Patrick could not only repair most stringed instruments but designed and created a few of his own, from the incredible DreamCaster, to the fabulous fish guitar.
Patrick had a great many projects always in the works. You could always find Patrick working in his shop creating, fixing, or even writing his article "Stay In Tune" for the Voice Magazine. His interest and passions made it hard to keep up with him. No greater passion or love did he have than for his son Liam. The music was never sweeter than when he could introduce you to or tell you about Liam. To find Patrick, Gerri and Liam at a music event would be expected. Whether they were camping at a weekend music festival or providing support at venues like the Riverside Inn Music Festival to countless others, Patrick's life was full. He touched untold numbers of souls and was touched himself by so many more.
With his fabulous grin and quick wit -he never knew a stranger.
The family would like to thank the many friends and loved ones who sent prayers and love to Patrick and his family. Patrick had so many loved ones from all over the world who cherished him dearly. The amount of support, both emotionally and financially, has been truly astonishing and humbling. Thanks to all of the family and friends (from here and across the pond) we were able to go on a couple bucket list trips to Nashville and Maine both were extraordinary. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for everyone who knew and loved Patrick.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife Gerri, his son Liam, his siblings; Michael (Judy) Podpadec, Sue Podpadec (Roy) Cederlund, Kathy (Dave) Lennox, his siblings-in-law; Frank (Debbie) Whittaker, Mary (Tim) Vagi, Cathy (the late Mike) Patrizi, and Betty (Steve) Klinger. Patrick is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Peggy and Ralph, and his mother-in-law, Kitty Whittaker. Patrick will be missed dearly by his family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to Ohio Living Hospice for all of the care and compassion they have given to Patrick and the entire family during his final journey.
