Phil Lane entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 6, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. Lane and Clarissa H. (Lane) Sutton, and his siblings, Stephen A. Lane and Robert W. Lane (Vicky). He is survived by his youngest brother, Eric Lane (Amy), and his step-siblings, James Sutton (Beth), Katherine Sutton (Jeff), Richard Sutton, and Scott Sutton (Anne).

Phil was raised in Cleveland and, later, Parma, Ohio. After attending Denver Automotive and Deisel College (Lincoln Tech), he worked in the automotive industry most of his life, contributing to projects in alternative fuels, concept cars, and racing technologies. Phil had no shortage of interests and could talk to anybody, a storyteller at heart. He enjoyed music, playing the harmonica and guitar. Besides being a lifelong automotive enthusiast, Phil was an avid "boondocker" and loved spending time off-grid in state/federal lands and forests.
