Phyllis Elaine Shimko

Phyllis Elaine Shimko, age 75, of Wickliffe, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

Phyllis was born on September 16, 1951, in Richwood, West Virginia, to Delbert and Flora Morris. She graduated from Euclid Senior High School with the Class of 1969.

On April 18, 1970, Phyllis married the love of her life, Ralph Shimko, at Euclid Alliance Church. Together, they shared more than 56 years of marriage.

Phyllis dedicated 37 years to Euclid City Schools. She began as a lunch aide, later worked as a health aide, and eventually became an Administrative Assistant, working in the school office. Over the years, she touched the lives of countless students, families, and coworkers.

Phyllis had a special love for animals, especially her dogs, chickens, and bees. She also loved flowers and gardening and found great joy in caring for the things around her.

More than anything, Phyllis will be remembered for her kind and accepting heart. She had a way of making everyone she met feel welcomed and loved. Her family meant everything to her, and while she loved her children dearly, her grandchildren held an especially tender place in her heart.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Shimko; her children, Renee Shimko (Rick Roberts) and Daniel Shimko; and her beloved grandchildren, Joseph Shimko, Tyler Shimko, Hailey Smiciklas, and Sabrina Shimko. She is also survived by her siblings, Dennis (Charlotte) Morris and Jerry (Candy) Morris.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Flora Morris.

The Shimko family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Cypress Hospice for the kindness, care, and compassion they provided to Phyllis and her family.
