Richard A. Casselman

Richard A. Casselman, 65, of Painesville, Ohio, passed away at his residence on May 28, 2026. He was in poor health for several years following a heart attack in 2019.

Richard was born May 12, 1961, in Geneva, Ohio to Richard D. Casselman and Helen (Hanneman) Casselman. In 1965, the family moved to Troy, Ohio and resided there before moving to Mentor, Ohio in 1979. Richard was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1979, and served in the Navy in the early 1980’s.

He was an employee of Accurate Metal Machining in Painesville, Ohio for 15 years until his untimely death. Richard liked nature, fishing, classic cars, a variety of music, his 2 cats and was a long-time member of the Painesville YMCA.

He is survived by his sister Lauri A. Casselman of Mentor, Ohio, brother James E. Casselman of Concord, Ohio; Uncle, Bill Dennison and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Ellen Murgatroyd; infant nephew, Richard Thomas Murgatroyd; and several aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 19th, 2026, from 1pm-3pm at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Rd., Geneva, OH. 44041. A private Graveside Burial will take place in the future at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Richard's memory.
