Richard Allen Cogswell's Obituary
Richard "Rick" Allen Cogswell, 72, of Ashtabula, Ohio passed away at home on Tuesday, December 6, 2023.
He was born April 1, 1951, in Painesville, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Camille Cogswell. Rick graduated from Thomas W. Harvey High School in 1969 and then joined the U.S. Navy, having served in Vietnam. Rick was a proud veteran. On April 7, 2000, Rick married Ada Dowdy and together they shared more than 23 years of love and memories. He was a hardworking man and worked 30 years for Coe Manufacturing in Painesville, Ohio and then worked another 15 years for Chart Industries in Ball Ground, Georgia. In his spare time, he was a die-hard Ohio State fan and also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and NASCAR.
Rick is survived by his wife, Ada (Dowdy) Cogswell of Ashtabula; children, Lori Skidmore of Painesville, Karen Dillon of Madison, Daniel (Mary Ann) Cogswell of Fairport Harbor, Tina (Ken) Houck of Georgia, Kimberly (Caleb) Gobble of Colorado, and Christopher Bancroft of Colorado; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Diane Spring of Painesville and Linda (Robert) Breedlove of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Camille Cogswell; sons, Clifford Bancroft and Aaron Curtiss.
A private family service will be held.
The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to UH Geauga Medical Center 2 North nurses and The Hospice of the Western Reserve for the special care given to Rick and his family.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
