Richard Harlen Dumperth, 97, of Plymouth Township, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He was born May 29, 1925 in Mantua, Ohio to Christian and Lucille Ames Dumperth.
He graduated from Mantua Center School in 1944 and worked on the family farm until the age of 22. After returning from the Army, he lived and worked in Cleveland where he met and married Rose Bukvic. Richard and Rose were wed on February 16, 1952 and celebrated 70 years of marriage before her passing in July 2022.
In 1953 Richard and Rose relocated to Ashtabula County where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for 33 years, retiring from Koski Construction in 1987.
After surviving a very rough childhood and never being called son, he met his Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, at the age of 44 when the Lord saved him on his bed. He loved the Scriptures and taught his family to always go to the Book that has all the answers. He loved to sing and led the family in singing and playing hymns in the nursing homes for 16 years.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Rose on July 29, 2022, his parents, brothers, Christian and Robert, and sisters, Dorothy Bloedorn, Lois McCandless, and Donna Zsoldos.
His family at home includes daughter-in-law Darlene Dumperth, daughter Rita Dumperth, son Ron Dumperth and granddaughters Leah and Rachel Dumperth. Also surviving him are his son Richard (Betsy) Dumperth, daughters Rosanne (Ken) Kropp and Rebecca Lenichek, grandchildren, Ken, Matthew, Daniel, and Paul Kropp, Ammi Moore, Naomi Simpson, Elisabeth, John, Esther and Josiah Lenichek, Hannah Babb, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
