Obituary

Richard "Dick" Mullen, 81, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the Cleveland Clinic with family by his side.
He was born October 20, 1940, in Ashtabula, the son of the late Wilbur and Marian (Wright) Mullen. Dick married the love of his life, Sherry (Cimorell) Mullen, and together they shared 58 years of love and memories.
Dick was a 1958 graduate of Ashtabula High School, attended Kent State University, and graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a degree in microbiology. He was a Medical Technologist and the Director of the Lab at Ashtabula General Hospital and started the Lab at the Ashtabula Clinic. In his spare time, he was very socially active as a member of the Geneva RC Club, Jefferson Historical Society, Jefferson Village, the Antique Engine Club, and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. His most recent passions were dedicated to modeling at the Maritime Museum, as well as the Ashtabula Train Disaster movie.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sherry Mullen; daughter, Shelly Mullen; granddaughter, Sharee (Jason, deceased) McClintic; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Chase McClintic; sister, Shirley (Ken) Sippola; nieces, Kathy Wing and Sheryl Martsolf; and nephew, Mark Sippola.
Dick was preceded in death by his son, Robert J. Mullen in 1985; his parents, Wilbur and Marian (Wright) Mullen; his brother, Robert Mullen; and his grandson-in-law, Jason McClintic in 2009.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio, from 4:00pm until the time of the funeral service at 5:30pm. A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ashtabula.
