Rick D. Cole

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rick Cole, who left us suddenly, yet peacefully, at the VA hospital on October 9th, 2026. Born on October 12, 1960, in Conneaut, Ohio, Rick was a cherished husband, devoted father, beloved brother, and friend to many. He was the son of Clarence (Coley) and Leota (Honey) Cole, and is predeceased by his father, Clarence.

Rick lived a life filled with love, service, and curiosity. He married the love of his life, Cynthia Sheehan, on July 1, 1989. Together, they shared 37 wonderful years, raising two sons, Nathan and Benjamin, and three daughters, Kristina, Ruth, and Faith. Rick found immense joy in his family, which includes his wife Cynthia, his loving children, his mother Leota, his brothers Steve (Janet), Larry (Linda), Randy (Lynn), and Dave (Kim), his brother-in-law David (Mirriam), sisters-in-law Maureen, Beth (Ken), Rose, Joanna (Lance), and an extended family of 46 nieces and nephews.

At the rank of Lance Corporal, Rick served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1981 to 1984 as an avionics technician. His dedication to his country was paralleled by his dedication to his community. Rick was a committed member of the South Ridge Baptist Church, a volunteer firefighter at the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the American Legion. In his youth, he was an active participant in the 4H Club.

Rick was a man of many talents and interests, a "jack of all trades", he worked as a precision machinist and held various other roles that showcased his vast knowledge and skills. He was passionate about hovercrafts, alternative fuels, technology, and electronics, and was known for his ability to create something out of nothing. Rick's inquisitive nature led him to a lifetime of reading and researching, always driven by a desire to understand how things worked.

Known for his positivity and faith, Rick was a man who loved his Lord and Savior deeply, seeking to grow in his spiritual relationship. Despite considering himself not outgoing, he enjoyed engaging with others and valued being presentable in public. His warmth and sincerity left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

In addition to his immediate family, Rick is survived by a loving network of brothers, sisters-in-law, and many close friends who will miss him dearly.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 17, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and a Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:30 AM. Following the celebration of life, at 1:30 PM there will be a graveside burial service with military honors at Kellogsville Cemetery, 4646 Monroe Center Rd, Conneaut, OH 44030.
