Robert H. Berry

It is with both heavy hearts and outpouring love that we share the news of our father, Robert H. Berry, peacefully passing from this earth into the arms of Jesus' glory on August 26, 2026. Dad was the ultimate role model, loving husband, friend, father and grandfather, son and brother, uncle and cousin, and a true pillar of our community. He never knew a stranger and earned the deep respect of everyone fortunate enough to cross his path over the 93 years we were blessed to have him among us.

Dad was born May 1, 1933 to parents Gloucester William (G.W.) and Minerva (Jean) Berry in Geneva, Ohio. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1951, where he was awarded the Thespian Letterman patch for his skill in acting, along with his comedic wit and impeccable timing. After graduation, he proudly joined the US Army, where he trained to become a helicopter mechanic during the Korean War. He remains a lifetime member of the VFW, where he served in many capacities and enjoyed Monday Poker with his fellow vets.

For over 35 years, he was the proud owner and operator of Lake Shore Fur Farm in Geneva, Ohio. He carried a deep passion for wildlife, nature and the outdoors as a master hunter, trapper, and fisherman. After retirement, he traveled our great country, exploring the natural wonders it offers in Alaska, Texas, the Southern states, the Northwest, the Midwest, and our neighboring Canada. After moving back “home”, Dad split his time ”living the dream” - summers in Ohio and winters in South Georgia, enjoying his family and friends.

He also dedicated many years of service as a member and Past Grand Master of the Geneva Masonic Lodge Chapter #334. Sir Knight Robert Harold Berry was a distinguished Freemason who achieved the rare and prestigious rank of Knight of the York Cross of Honour (KYCH). His advancement to this rank confirms a long-term dedication to leadership within the fraternity, specifically denoting that he served as the presiding officer over all four of the primary York Rite Masonic bodies:

• Past Master of his local Blue Lodge.
• Past High Priest of his Royal Arch Chapter.
• Past Illustrious Master of his Council of Cryptic Masons.
• Past Eminent Commander of Ashtabula Commandery No. 19 (Knights Templar).

Above all, our Dad loved his family fiercely. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on through his sisters: Dorothy (Lee) Clutter, Patricia (Keith) Klingler, and Margaret (Peggy) Silvius, Children: Randal (Demi) Berry, Becci Curry, Robee (Amy) Berry, Angie (Chad) Myers, David (Teresa) Berry, and Reghina (Patrick) Deloach; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, his brother Richard (Dick) Berry, his first wife and our mother, Wanda Riffle Berry; and his second wife and traveling companion of over 30 years, Denice (Haner) Berry.

A Celebration of Life was enjoyed by family and friends on Aug.30. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
