Robert E Pakkala

Robert Emil Pakkala (Bob), 90, of Saybrook Township, Ohio passed away May 10, 2026.

He was born on April 27, 1936, in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Sulo Emil Pakkala and Helen (Colson) Pakkala. Bob graduated from Harbor High School and then honorably served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force.

On May 4, 1961, he married Patricia Recore in Plattsburgh, New York and together they shared more than 64 years of love and memories before her passing on August 16, 2025.

Bob worked many years as a Dock Worker in the Ashtabula Harbor. In his free time, he enjoyed old cars and woodworking.

He is survived by his children, Brian (Lisa) Pakkala, and Justine (Jim) Doherty; daughter-in-law, Jodi Pakkala; grandchildren, Ryan (Rachel) Pakkala, Adam Pakkala, Hanna Pakkala, Brandon Pakkala, Gina Carlucci, Jimmy (Ericka) Doherty, Megan (Matt) Hallgren, Kelsey Doherty and Hailey Doherty; 9 great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Patricia (Recore) Pakkala; son, Bruce Pakkala; granddaughter, Ashley Pakkala.

A Celebration of Life for both Bob and his wife Patricia will be held this summer at a date to be announced.

Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, OH assisted the family with arrangements.
