Ronald Gale Dawson, 72, of Ashtabula, Ohio passed away at home on Monday, April 15, 2024, from cancer.
He was born January 19, 1952, in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Eddie and Opal Dawson and graduated from Jefferson High School. On September 25, 1972, he married Karen "Sue" Dawson.
Ron worked in construction, coal mines, and oil rigs. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family fishing, flying kites, driving in Amish Country, visiting Covered Bridges, camping, woodworking, and he loved cars.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie Maehler, Veronica (Shane) Buckley, Suzanne Dawson, Paul (Jessica) Dawson, Savannah Luce, Andrew (Sheila) Dawson, and Richard Steele; grandchildren, Alisha, Haley, Josh, Zach, Wade, Isaiah, Tyler, Marianna, Blayze, Jalaysa, Kylie, Aradesa, Nathan, Brentley, and Zoey; great-grandchildren, Kalli, Finn, Rolynn, Harley, Ryan, Connor, Piper, Azalea, Ivy, Liliana, and Ellianna; siblings, Dolly White, Sharon Burlingame-Dawson, and Julie Walker.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Karen "Sue" Dawson; children, Joshua Dawson, and Ronald Dawson II; parents, Eddie and Opal Dawson; siblings, Bill Dawson, Norris Dawson, Kenneth Dawson, Tony Dawson, Sue McCullough (Dawson), Patricia June Dawson, Brenda Dawson, and Debbie Easton (Dawson).
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 2, 2024, at 1:00pm at Lake Shore Park in Ashtabula.
The family wishes to extend a sincere "Thank You" to Hospice of the Western Reserve in Ashtabula County for the wonderful care they provided to Ron and his family.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
