Ronald Lee Verdi Sr., 73, of Ashtabula, Ohio passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.

He was born July 22, 1950, in Ashtabula, Ohio to Louis and Mary (Gudger) Verdi Sr., and attended Ashtabula High School. At the age of 17, Ron joined the U.S. Army and served from December 11, 1969 to December 3, 1974 in Special Forces as a Green Beret on the frontlines of the Vietnam War. He was a POW in Southeast Asia and Thailand and received several medals including a Purple Heart.

On May 17, 1980, Ron married his high school sweetheart, Ginger Lee Verdi, in Ashtabula and together they shared more than 43 years of love and memories.

Ron retired from Ashtabula City Cab after 41 years of service and in his spare time he loved cooking and made the best sauce and meatballs. He also loved tending to his yard, loved his 2006 Mustang GT and going to car shows, was a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Karate and taught Karate in his younger years and, but most of all he was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He was also a man of strong faith and had a special relationship with God.

Survivors include his wife, Ginger Verdi; children, Pat (Patricia Reuschling) Capuano, Mindy (Thomas Jr.) Daye, Rondald Verdi Jr., Terri (Luke) Wilcox, and Nicky (Sherri) Verdi; grandchildren, Anthony Hamilton, Mathew Ketkorasamy, Ashley Verdi, Summer Verdi, Aspen Spice, Brooke Baer, Raeanne Verdi, Brennan Verdi, Thomas Daye III, Haylie Daye, Michael Daye, Jaxson Daye, Skyler Verdi, and Ronald Verdi III; ; siblings, Louis (Mary) Verdi, Sharon (Bob) Sherbourne, Marsha Weaver, Tiara frost, Della Fassett, Patty Verdi, and Perry Verdi.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary (Gudger) Verdi Sr. and sister, Denise Sorensen.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 11:00am until the time of the Celebration of Life service at 1:00pm at Lake Erie Funeral and Cremation Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio. Burial will follow the service at Ridgeview Cemetery.
