Ronald Charles Watson, 83, of Jefferson, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022.
He was born on March 1, 1939, in Ashtabula, the son of Charles and Marie (Stewart) Watson.
Ron attended schools in Jefferson for 11 years before graduating in 1957 from Lincoln High School in Canton, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Malone College and his Master of Arts from the University of Akron.
Ron worked in education and law enforcement as a teacher, principal, superintendent, probation officer, and sheriff. Ron loved music and had the gift of playing by ear. For decades, he entertained family and friends by singing and playing the piano, saxophone, and banjo.
On February 10, 1984, Ron married Linda (Davenport) Watson and shared 25 years of love and laughter together before her passing in 2009. He lived in Colorado, Wyoming, and Arizona but was an Ohioan through and through, returning to the Buckeye State in 2010.
When he returned to Jefferson, he reunited with a high school sweetheart, Marion Peck. For 12 years, they split their time between Florida and Ohio. He also served on the Jefferson School Board and on the Jefferson Historical Society Board.
His loving family survives him: his partner, Marion Peck; his children: Jon Watson, Linda Watson Dix, Julie Watson, Amy Cabaday and Angie Husted; his grandchildren: Kayla, Hayley, Dylan, Finnegan, Luke, Bailey Blu; Kyle, Kole, James, Megan, Jordan and, one great-granddaughter, Georgia; his sister and brother-in-law, Beverly (Watson) and Richard Willis.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Linda (Davenport) Watson.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, November 2, at 10:30 am at Jefferson United Methodist Church at 125 E Jefferson St, Jefferson, OH 44047. Light refreshments to share and celebrate memories of Ron will follow immediately at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Ron's name to the Alzheimer's Association, act.alz.org.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
