Sandra Lynn Sabel

Sandra "Sandy" Lynn (Lackner) Sabel, age 61, of Painesville, OH., passed away on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, after a heroic battle against cancer. Sandy was born on August 28th, 1964, in Painesville, OH., to parents, Marilyn Mirwald and John Lackner. Sandy graduated high school in 1982 and went on to earn her degree to practice as an STNA (state tested nurses aide). She married (the late) James Sabel in 1990. Sandy enjoyed helping others as she spent many years as a nurses aide and also worked as a store clerk. She loved being with her family, especially for holiday celebrations. Sandy was also an avid follower of all Cleveland sports teams. She was a kind soul who also gave her heart to caring for the many feral cats in her neighborhood. Sandy's family especially loved her special chocolate chip cookies that they would share at many family gatherings. Sandy is survived by her boyfriend, John Russell, by her nephews, Jimmy, Jake and Philip, and by her siblings, Patricia (Phil) Orley, John Lackner, and Mike (Monica) Lackner. Sandy is also survived by her step-dad, Mike Mirwald and her Aunt Rosemary. She is preceded in death by her husband James Sabel, and by her parents. Per Sandy's wishes, private burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
