Obituary

Sara Ann (Taggart) Ketola, 79, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2020 in her home surrounded by her family: Denise, Chris and his son David, her Cousin Carol, close friends Joann, Brenda and the Bella Care team. She suffered a massive stroke requiring hospice care in her home.

Sara was born in Dorset, Ohio on January 31, 1941, eldest daughter of Albert C. Taggart and Janet J (Siferd) Taggart. A 1959 graduate of Jefferson High School, Sara married George H. Ketola on New Year's Eve December 31, 1959. Sara was a family-oriented person, a friend to everyone. She was a great Mom to her three kids plus a great second neighborhood Mom to the Godleski, McFarland and the Drown's kids.

Sara was a Rural Letter Carrier for over 26 years, mostly on Rural Route 2 out of Jefferson until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed life and anything to do with otters, bowling, playing Bingo with her sisters and cousins, or walking her little man Beau. Sara was proud of her grandsons David A Ketola and Zane A Ketola.

She is survived by Beau (her baby), Frankie (the cat), her daughter Denise Marie Ketola, her son Chris Alan (Patty) Ketola, Grandsons David Alan Ketola and Zane Alan Ketola, Sisters Cora Riggleman and Alberta Kemmerer, Sister-in-laws Jeanette Redmond and Karlyn (James) Stein, extended family by love – son Randy (Sammy) Roach and his family, daughter Tamara (Jett) Green and her family, daughter by love-the Hart girls, Debbie (Dick) Fisher, Cheryl (Tim) Marshall, Barb aka "Bobbie" (Bob) Lemon and Julie (Scott) Watkins and their families, son Craig H (Vivajean) Ketola, bestest friends Joann Gianantonio and Mo (Aaron) Gambrell, dear friends Brenda Niemi and Mister Terry Swalley.

Plus many many nieces and nephews and the entire Taggart family, bowling team and league and Senior C Group in Jefferson. Her K-9 fur family, Beau, Clark aka "Lughead", Manny aka "Jughead", Harlee and Braxton. Her feline fur family, Frankie, Midnight, Rocket, Lovey, Camo, and Sweetie.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert C. and Janet J. Taggart, her husband of over 51 years, George H. Ketola aka "Grumpy", both paternal and maternal grandparents, sister Patricia J (Bill) Manger, sister by love Marilyn (Alan) Hart, her loving companion Jack V. Roach and brother-in-laws, Alan Smith and Mel (Jeanette) Redmond.

A large heart felt thank you to the Bella Care Hospice staff that helped Chris, Denise, and Carol to provide comfort care in this difficult time. There will be a small memorial service for family and close friends at a later date.
