In Loving Memory of Sarah Martin-Mansfield

April 23, 1940 – May 10, 2025

Sarah Martin-Mansfield, 85, passed peacefully on May 10, 2025, surrounded by family and dear friends at Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in West Virginia on April 23, 1940, to Edward and Gladys (Perkins) Donahue, she later made her home in Jefferson, Ohio, where she built a beautiful life with her husband, George E. Mansfield. Together, they created a home that was full of grandchildren, memories, and the low hum of soap operas and westerns on TVs in the background.

To most, she was known simply as Mamaw. Sarah had a gift for making everyone feel like family, whether by opening her arms, her heart, or her kitchen. Her home was a haven for many. Her refrigerator, covered in magnets and filled with Diet Coke, told the story of a life well-lived.

Sarah found joy in the simple pleasures: growing irises and tending to her flower beds, helping raise her grandchildren, and returning to her favorite place—Mann, West Virginia. If you knew Sarah, you knew exactly why.

She is survived by her children, Perry Bailey, Jeff Bailey, Kelly Taylor, and Melissa Stevens; her beloved siblings, Jerry Donahue, Ed Donahue, and Peggy Lusk; and a wide circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family—both by blood and by love.

She is reunited in peace with those who went before her: her parents Edward and Gladys, her husband George, her son Donnie "Lee" Bailey, her grandson Jacob Bailey, and her sisters Gloria Perry and Colleen "Queenie" Few.

A Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming weeks, where friends and family will gather to share memories and honor Sarah's life.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out during this time. Sarah's impact was clearly far-reaching. She was the heart of her family and a steady light to so many others.
