Shirley Mavis Cavey, 79, of Chardon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, after a 6-year battle with dementia at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born July 13, 1944, to parents Walter and Doris (Bediant) Miller in Painesville, OH. Shirley graduated from Riverside High School in 1962 and married Edward Lee Cavey on January 19, 1963, at Ohio Community Christian Church in Painesville. She retired in 2017, and in her free time enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and crocheting prior to her dementia. Shirley is survived by her husband, Edward Lee; children, Dawn M. (Nick) Skidmore of Claridon, OH., Denise M. (Paul) McAllister of Chardon, OH., and Deena M. (Solomon) Harper of Hambden, OH.; grandchildren, Kaylee and TJ Wells, Breanne and Matt Barnauskas, Shaylynn and Steven Levesque, Kelsey and Brad Cardina, Micaela Harper and fiancé Jimmy Ebbert, Shane McAllister, Branson and Samantha Skimore, and Miranda and Joshua Davis; great-grandchildren, Rori and Brad, Everly and Harlie, Riley, and Amelia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Doris Miller; brother, Richard D. Miller; and sister-in-law, Carel Miller. The family held private services and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Shirley will eventually be buried at Hambden Cemetery. The family asks that donations be made in her name to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave, Cleveland, Ohio, 44110. Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio, assisted the family with arrangements.
