Shirley Ann Dye, age 87, was called home on July 4, 2024. She was born July 23, 1936, in Dawmont, West Virginia to the late Ircle Monroe Wilson and Wanda Marie Shreve. She lived a long life, and left many memories for everyone who knew her. She retired from 3M, in Mentor, Ohio, and then spent the rest of her life enjoying her family.
Shirley had many jobs over her long lifetime. Some of which were being a caregiver to her siblings, waitressing, working as a cook, and a machine operator at 3M. Shirley loved a good sewing project and, as a self/taught seamstress, she made many things: her children's clothes, team uniforms, Halloween costumes, cabbage patch dolls, dog toys, even a wedding gown. She will be remembered mostly for her baby blankets and bibs sewn with love for all her family and friends. Shirley also enjoyed ceramics, playing cards, cooking, crafting, her computer and shopping. Her last projects were lighted garlands.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer E. Dye, and 4 of her siblings: Mary Murphey, Vincent Patton, James Patton, and Dora Patton.
She is survived by her children, Charlotte Maditz, of Fairport, Ohio; John (Marie) Fleming, of Perry, Ohio; Elsie (Mike) Swanson, of Geneva, Ohio; and Shelly Chapdelaine (fiancé, Scott McCauley) of Painesville, Ohio. She also leaves behind, her 10 grandchildren: Mary, Eddie, Patrick, Kathleen, Jeffrey, Joshua, Andre, Haley, Nathan, and Johnathan; her 9 great-grandchildren: Marissa, Corbin, Brianna, Olivia, Nathan, Blake, Oliver, Margo, Eli and 1 great-great-grandchild: Jayden.
