Thomas A. LeBar, 79, of Jefferson, Ohio passed away March 3, 2022 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland following a long illness.
He was born July 6, 1942 in Andover, New York the son of the late Arnold and Thelma (Callaghan) LeBar. At the age of 3, he moved to Alaska with his family where he remained until he joined the US Air Force when he was 18 years old during the Vietnam Era. Tom married the love of his life, Gayle H. (Storms) LeBar, and together they shared many years of love and memories until her sudden death in July 2002.
Tom worked as a semi-truck driver for 60 years and drove all over the country. In his spare time, he was a longtime member of the National Hot Rod Association and enjoyed drag racing in his Pontiac hot rods. He also belonged to many racing clubs where he won numerous trophies.
He is survived by his children, Jon T. LeBar of Ashtabula, Ohio and Michelle (Brian) LeBar-Asbury of Avon, Ohio; grandchildren, Kyle age 21 of Texas, Virginia age 17 of Avon, and Logan age 15 of Avon; longtime friends, Ralph "Herbie" (Marty) Herbert, Mark (Bobbi Jo) Repar, Catheryn Bennett, and Mike Peace.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle H. (Storms) LeBar; son, Tommy LeBar in infancy; parents, Arnold and Thelma (Callaghan) LeBar.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The date and time will be announced on the funeral home website closer to the date of service.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
