Obituary

Thomas M. Vassallo, 71, of Streetsboro, Ohio died Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Hospice of Medina County surrounded by his family. Tom was born September 27, 1952 to Anthony and Bernice (nee Hill) Vassallo. Graduating from Harvey High School in 1970, Tom grew up in Perry and Painesville, Ohio with his two sisters Fran and Cheryl and his identical twin-brother John. Tom later went on to graduate from Kent State University in 1993 where he remained a proud alum.

Tom spent 40 years with the love of his life, Laura. Together, they built a beautiful family with their five children, eight grandchildren, and one great grandson. Tom was a devoted husband and loved traveling and experiencing the world with Laura. As their world view expanded, they further discovered the depths of their own love for one another. Out of all the countries and states they visited, together was their favorite place to be. Tom was also the most proud father and grandfather: he was front row at every milestone, performance, event, or game in their lives. Over the years, there was never a more constant or firm foundation for his family than Tom.

Tom's reach and impact extended beyond his family. As the proud owner of Vassallo Consulting for 24 years and his role at QMI/SAI Global, Tom built many long-lasting client relationships through his years of auditing. Not only did Tom love his family and work, but Tom loved Cleveland sports and trying new restaurants. He could almost always be found with a hot dog in his hand and a pack of stadium mustard in his pocket. Tom was an avid collector of DC comic books and a devoted John Grisham reader.

Tom is survived by his wife Laura Vassallo (nee Skala); sisters Fran Louden and Cheryl (David) Askew; children Gina (Tom) Cox, Jennifer (Jeff) Buckey, Sean (Kacey) Shapiro, Amy (Steve) Baird, and Heidi Shapiro; grandchildren Josh (Casi) Cox, Taylor and Emily Buckey, Ada and Ian Shapiro, and Kaitlyn (Travis Harrison), Steven, and Brendan Baird, and great-grandson Lucas Cox. Tom was an amazing in-law, loving uncle, and a faithful friend to so many. He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Bernice and his twin-brother John.

Reconciled with his parents and brother, it is almost certain Tom is causing mischief with his twin, John, once again and pulling some strings for a Browns Super Bowl and a Guardians World Series.
