Tina Marie Scibona, 37, of Geneva, Ohio passed away suddenly on Monday, March 17, 2025, at UH Geneva Medical Center.
She was born November 27, 1987, in Geneva, Ohio to Frank and Denise (Vandervort) Scibona.
Tina was a 2006 graduate of Geneva High School, in the top 10 of her class, a 2010 graduate from The University of Akron with a bachelor's degree in political science and received her Juris Doctorate degree in 2013 from The Thomas Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. In 2015, she passed the bar exam.
Tina was a hard worker growing up working on the family dairy farm and worked at Geneva Giant Eagle after high school and during the summers through college. Tina was active in Geneva high school, inducted into National Honor Society in her Jr. year. She was active in the high school drama department where she was stage manager most of her time in high school, and played trumpet for Geneva Marching, Concert, and Symphonic bands as well as Jazz band. In college, she continued her love for music by being in Ohio's Pride, University of Akron's marching band and concert band. She was an active member of Akron's co-ed service sorority Tau Beta Sigma. She continued her love for music after college by joining the Ashtabula Brass Band.
After graduating from law school, she worked at a few law offices. Tina then found her niche with Ashtabula County Public Defender's office in 2021, where she jumped in with both feet. She was a hard worker, compassionate and caring to the clients who came to her for help. Tina was a member of the Ohio Bar Association and was planning on joining Geneva Rotary Club. She received many recognitions and awards throughout her years.
Tina was an active member of Park Street Christian church from childhood to recent. She was baptized May 23, 1999. She was active in the youth group as a teen, a member of the church choir and then praise team to present. Tina was the Official Board chairperson for many years then church moderator for the last 2 years. She served on the Deaconess team where she served as treasurer, as well as many other areas of the church.
She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, and loyal friend always willing to lend a hand and full of kindness, empathy, generosity, wit, and sarcasm.
She is survived by her mom, Denise Scibona; sister, Jennifer (Norman) Limpert; brother, Jason (Michele) Scibona; nieces, Lauren Limpert & Adilie "Adi" Bruns; aunts and uncles, Vincent Scibona, Amelia & Richard Janco, Gene Scibona, Darrell & Marsha Vandervort and several cousins. She is also survived by her boyfriend, Josh DeMarco
Tina was preceded in death by her father, Frank Scibona, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Frank and Katherine Scibona; maternal grandparents, William and Laurel Vandervort; aunt, Kathy Scibona; cousin, Elissa Thomas.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 4-8:00pm at Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio 44041. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11:00am at Park Street Christian Church, 97 Park Street, PO Box 283, Geneva, OH 44041.
Burial will follow the service in Harpersfield Township Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her father.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Tina's memory to Park Street Christian Church at the address above. Envelopes will be available at the visitation.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services of Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
