William E. "Bill" Coy, 78, of Geneva, Ohio passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at his family home.
He was born September 2, 1944 in Geneva, Ohio to Wilbert Coy, Sr. and Belle Thompson Coy. Bill played basketball for three years at Spencer High School and at Geneva High School his senior year before graduating in 1962. On November 23, 1963 he married Jeanette Harrison in Geneva and together they shared almost 60 years of love and memories.
Bill worked as a lineman for Geneva Telephone Company, worked 22 years for True Temper, Coca Cola, Nordic Air, and was a weekend laborer for his mason brothers. In his spare time, he enjoyed having a monthly luncheon with his classmates, played basketball for the Pruden Chicks, cherished watching his grandchildren play sports and shooting BB guns with them, watching the Guardians, woodworking, bird watching, and being the family handyman.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeannette (Harrison) Coy; children, Tracy (Ron) Clutter, Jeanna (Keith) Webb, and Billie (Keith) Biery; grandchildren, Taylor (Abe) Ellithy, Connor Webb, Veronica (Brandon) Strausser, Austin (Emily Russell) Clutter, Adam (Emily Shields) Biery, and Carlee Biery; great-grandchild, Idris Ellithy; sisters, Doris Shahan and Roberta (Robert) Weaver.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Richard (Dorothy) Coy, Samuel (Mary Fay) Coy, Eleanor (Jack) Tinney, Louella (Robert) Richards, Wilbert Jr. (Mary) Coy, Guy Coy, Claude (Shirley) Coy, Sydney (Patricia) Coy, Janet (Ernest) Bowser, Joyce (Eugene) Legg, Leora (Russell) Bigham, and Sandra (Herbert) Trask; brother-in-law, Alvie Shahan.

The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to Hospice of the Western Reserve's Ashtabula Team, nurses Jenny and LaDena, for the special love and care given to Bill and his family during his final journey.
Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
