It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Willam Conrad Drippon, who passed away on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, at the age of 70. Bill will be deeply missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Bill was a loyal husband to Laura, his loving wife of 38 years, and a caring, dedicated father to Connie Kone and Alexander Drippon. He was also a proud grandfather to Alicia Curry and Mia Kone. Bill cherished his family and worked hard throughout life to support them.
Many will remember Bill for his laughter and sense of humor. He rarely missed the opportunity to crack a joke or make someone smile. Bill will live in the memories of those that loved him as a free spirit who treated others with kindness, generosity, compassion, and respect.
Everyone that knew Bill will remember him as a lifelong sports fanatic. During high school, he started collecting baseball cards, and over the years he became an avid collector of major league baseball cards and memorabilia. He was also a loyal fan of Cleveland sports, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Indians. If a game was in progress, you could bet he would be watching, listening, or checking the scoreboards for the latest updates.
Bill also possessed an insatiable thirst for information. He always had a current copy of the Plain Dealer, eager to keep up with the news and current events. He also enjoyed reading fiction and especially loved mystery novels by authors such as Agatha Christie. His mind was an encyclopedia of facts, trivia, and anecdotes on a wide range of topics, including WWII, The Civil War, and the lives and careers of dozens of musicians.
Music was one of the things that Bill absolutely could not live without. He adored live music and attended many concerts throughout his life. He could often be overheard singing a line from a song by Neil Young or The Beatles or drumming a beat with his fingers. He especially loved Motown, hard rock, and folk music. He took great joy in blasting his favorite songs during a leisurely drive. Bill was also a faithful servant to lady luck; he played the lottery daily and eagerly checked his numbers to find out whether he had finally hit the jackpot.
